In addition to building trust - there are practical things you can do to build enthusiasm for Volunteers to fill out your volunteer survey:

Keep putting the survey in front of your volunteers early enough and often! Reminders go a long way and it can take multiple exposures before someone takes the time to fill out your survey
If your Survey is anonymous - simply ask volunteers to send you a separate email with the subject line "Survey Submitted" if you choose to do a drawing or offer an incentive!
Try small incentives or a drawing for submitting a survey

Examples of volunteerism-focused incentives could be:
- Donated Gift Cards
- Coveted shifts that everyone wants to sign up for but not enough space
- Lunch with an Executive Team Member
- Lunch with the volunteer manager
- Organization swag gift bag (with merch such as T-Shirts, coffee cups etc...whatever is branded that the org has that they don't have general access to)
- Volunteer Manager for the Day
- A pair of tickets to a show or upgraded seats (more for like performing arts venues)
- An item from the volunteer gear store [See this Example]
- Anything that is of value to the volunteers that they don't readily have access to. It will look different for each organization!
